New launches from Honda, TVS, and Bajaj, among others, showcase the evolution of two-wheelers in India.

India is the world’s largest two-wheeler market and second largest two-wheeler manufacturer. Electric two-wheelers are estimated to increase from 944,000 units to 13.75 million units by FY30, with the country likely to have 1.32 million charging stations by 2030. The thrust towards green mobility was particularly evident at the second edition of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, India’s premier global mobility event that kickstarted on January 17th, 2025, and runs through till January 22, 2025.
Major Electric Two-Wheeler Launches
- Honda
Honda introduced the Activa e, marking a significant step in the evolution of its best-selling Activa scooter into the electric segment. This model seamlessly blends the legacy of the Activa with modern electric technology, offering a range of approximately 100 km per charge. It retains the recognizable design of its petrol-powered predecessor, with subtle adjustments to accommodate electric components, ensuring continuity for loyal users. Smart connectivity features, such as mobile app integration for battery tracking and navigation, are expected to enhance the user experience, strengthening Honda’s foothold in the electric scooter market.
- TVS
TVS unveiled the iQube ST 2025 Concept, a scooter designed to cater to the needs of urban commuters with an extended range of around 140 km. Its powerful motor accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, balancing performance and efficiency. Advanced features include a touchscreen display and smartphone integration for navigation and vehicle diagnostics.
TVS also showcased its CNG-powered two-wheeler, TVS Jupiter CNG concept equipped with bi-fuel technology. It delivers improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions, offering a cost-effective and environmentally friendly commuting solution.
- Bajaj
Bajaj revamped its classic Chetak series with the introduction of the new Bajaj Chetak 35 Series Electric. This model preserves the iconic scooter design while integrating cutting-edge electric technology. It offers a range of up to 95 km per charge, making it ideal for daily commutes. Capable of achieving speeds of up to 70 km/h, the Chetak balances performance and practicality. Additional features like regenerative braking and smartphone connectivity provide real-time battery updates, ensuring a modern, user-friendly experience.
Bajaj Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG motorcycle was also showcased, powered by a 125cc air-cooled engine producing 9.5 hp and 9.7 Nm of torque, the bike achieves 90.5 kph on CNG and 93.4 kph on petrol.
- Ola Electric
Ola Electric’s latest offering, the S1 Gen 3, highlights significant advancements in battery technology, resulting in improved range and faster charging times. With an estimated range exceeding 150 km, this scooter caters to both urban and suburban riders. Its smart connectivity features include over-the-air updates, GPS navigation, and integrated music controls. The scooter’s sleek and customizable design, coupled with smart lighting options, enhances both aesthetics and functionality. Built on the Gen 3 platform, it incorporates a magnetless motor and upgraded battery technology, delivering a 26% improvement in overall performance.
- HeroMotoCorp
Hero MotoCorp’s Vida Z is tailored for family use, featuring a spacious floorboard and a comfortable seat with a backrest. The model offers flexible battery options ranging from 2.2 kWh to 4.4 kWh, accommodating diverse range and performance needs. Positioned as the most affordable model in the Vida lineup, it appeals to a wide audience. Powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), the Vida Z ensures efficient power delivery and a smooth riding experience, combining practicality with advanced technology.
- Suzuki Motorcyle India
Suzuki Motorcycle India introduced its first electric scooter, the e-Access, as an eco-friendly alternative to its popular petrol-powered Access model. Equipped with a 3.07 kWh battery, the e-Access delivers a competitive range of 95 km per charge, making it ideal for city commuting. The scooter includes a TFT LCD color screen with smartphone connectivity via the Suzuki Ride Connect-E App. It offers three ride modes—Eco, Ride A, and Ride B—along with a reverse mode for added convenience. A multi-function switch with a keyless function further enhances usability.
Suzuki Motorcycle India also spotlighted its Gixxer SF 250, a flex fuel bike featuring a 250cc single-cylinder engine delivering 27.5 bhp and 22.5 Nm on E85 fuel, with Suzuki upgrading key components like the injector, fuel pump, ECU, and valves to support E85 compatibility.
- Yamaha
Yamaha unveiled its hybrid tech with the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid. It is driven by a 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine generating 12.4PS and 13.3Nm, coupled with a 5-speed gearbox. The addition of a mild-hybrid assist enhances torque for faster overtakes and better fuel efficiency. It also offers a new TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity that provides turn-by-turn navigation, along with enhanced safety features such as traction control and ABS.
In addition to these established brands, several startups and companies also presented their innovative and appealing two-wheelers at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
- Motovolt Mobility
Motovolt Mobility, a Kolkata-based startup, is transforming the industry with purpose-driven designs, advanced technology, and eco-friendly solutions. It introduced a new range of electric vehicles, featuring the Hyper One, India’s first digital pedal motorbike, and the HUM NYC, a multi-utility speed pedelec designed for challenging last-mile delivery tasks. The lineup also included the versatile M7 and the M7 Rally, ideal for both logistics and personal commuting.
- Vinfast
VinFast made a significant impact by showcasing its range of electric scooters and bicycles – Klara S, Theon S, Feliz S, Vento S, Evo200 & Dragon Fly, respectively. It is likely to mark its entry into the Indian two-wheeler market in the future.
