TOKYO – October 31, 2022 – Global market research and advisory consulting company Frost & Sullivan launched “Sustainable Innovations: Connecting the Dots to a Net-Zero Future” on October 26, 2022, at Kawasaki King Skyfront Tokyu REI Hotel. The hybrid conference, held ahead of COP27 scheduled to be held in Egypt in November, introduced its audience to cutting-edge initiatives and industry examples for a sustainable future.

The conference welcomed guest speakers from Kawasaki City, Showa Denko K.K., Yokogawa Electric Corporation, and Kawasaki King Skyfront Tokyu REI Hotel, all of which are pioneering efforts in the field of sustainability. Japanese market participants listened to insightful case studies from the distinguished speakers. Hiroshi Yamamura, Frost & Sullivan Japan’s country head, moderated a discussion which covered topics raised by each panelist and exchanged the views around sustainable innovations through each lens.

Yamamura commented, “it is my pleasure to have been able to host this first hybrid event both at the venue and online to have a wonderful chance to meet participants in person. This partnership with Kawasaki King Skyfront Tokyu REI Hotel made this big step forward to promote our initiatives in sustainability.”

Mr. Nobuyuki Tamaki, Project Leader of the Future Co-creation Initiative, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, shared his views on how the company can move toward sustainable society. “To achieve a net-zero society, we need collaboration with a broad bird’s eye view beyond organizations, industries, and generations. Using the future scenario we would like to lead co-creation with our stakeholders through open dialogue and serendipity with colleagues who share the same vision.”

In-person participants of the hybrid event were invited to the “world’s first carbon-neutral hotel powered by hydrogen energy”. Situated in the city of Kawasaki, Greater Tokyo, the hotel is powered entirely by sustainable resources such as hydrogen derived from locally acquired waste plastics and food waste. Participants were also treated to an exclusive tour of the hotel to learn about its sustainability efforts and experience first-hand the reality of a net-zero future that Kawasaki King Skyfront Tokyu REI Hotel is working on. For example, the hotel grows its own produce inside the hotel through hydroponics and LED light source photosynthesis.
