Acknowledging the growing impact of solar and wind power, Victron developed self-consumption and home energy storage solutions
LONDON, U.K. — September 12, 2017 — Based on its recent analysis of the battery management systems market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Victron Energy BV (Victron) with the 2017 European Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Leadership. Leveraging its flagship MultiPlus inverter/charger, Victron developed a reliable, flexible, and cost-efficient Energy Storage System (ESS) for diverse applications, such as automotive and mobility, marine, and telecom. This solution effectively combines standard company products, including the inverter/charger, and a monitor/control panel, such as the Color Control GX.
Victron’s ESS comprises a backup system or solar energy, or a combination of both, and uses up to 30% of the entire battery capacity for self-consumption and keeps the remaining 70% as a backup in case of utility grid failure. Victron can set the usage percentage according to the customer’s requirement. Victron’s Battery Life Algorithm allows the current battery discharge percentage to match the next day’s charge percentage, keeping the battery healthy and optimally storing all excess renewable energy.
Victron’s flagship MultiPlus/MultiGrid inverter/charger employs a powerful sine wave inverter that simultaneously acts as a sophisticated battery charger. It enables MultiPlus to provide an adaptive charge technology with a high-speed AC transfer switch in a compact enclosure, so that the customer can enjoy uninterrupted AC power while having batteries continuously charged.
“In the case of grid failure or a generator power disconnection, the MultiPlus inverter automatically takes over the supply of connected loads,” said Frost & Sullivan Research Manager, Suba Arunkumar. “Due to lightning switching of fewer than 20 milliseconds, unexpected outages will not affect the operation of computers and other electronic equipment. Once a connection with the grid restores, the batteries recharge; alternatively, they can recharge through solar power.”
Victron’s keenness to provide the best possible value to customers prompted the company to build strong client partnerships through online communication platforms, fair trades, and conferences. Furthermore, Victron’s software solutions are open-source, so users can easily share feedback.
“Victron ensures that its inverter/charger systems are ready for FFR, DSR, and Hz optimisation, and are compatible with many types of third-party lithium batteries,” noted Arunkumar. “Additionally, it offers Victron Remote Management, a service enabling remote around-the-clock monitoring of Victron equipment from any part of the world. This free service, coupled with the Victron app, helps customers easily monitor and manage any Victron system.”
Overall, Victron has positioned itself very strongly with its ESS solution, serving an array of applications and meeting customers’ needs for quality, functionality, and price/performance value.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that develops a product with innovative features and functionality that, in turn, gains rapid market acceptance. The award recognises the quality of the solution and the customer value enhancements it enables.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognise companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research to identify best practices in the industry.
