Vertiv strongly positions itself with broad product portfolio, addressing diverse needs for quality, functionality, and price/performance value
LONDON, U.K. — March 15, 2017 — Based on its recent analysis of the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Vertiv, formerly Emerson Network Power, with the 2017 EMEA Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Leadership. Vertiv has consistently been mentioned among the top-three global UPS participants because of the exceptional success of its advanced UPS technologies. Its cutting-edge products are perfectly aligned with evolving customer requirements, and boast industry-leading design and scalability. A case in point is the highly innovative Liebert® Trinergy™ Cube UPS, the first static UPS capable of hot-scaling up to 3.4 MW in a single unit, and up to 27 MW when connected in parallel. This power capacity could previously be achieved only by rotary UPS solutions.
A single Liebert® Trinergy Cube solution combines three standard modes of operation and employs an adaptive algorithm based on the quality of the mains to arrive at the best energy-saving mode of operation. In 2016, the company announced enhancements to the Liebert Trinergy Cube UPS, including 200 kW and 400 kW power cores (modules), which increase the product’s flexibility and adaptability to diverse power density requirements. It also offers best-in-class average operational efficiency of 98.5 percent using the Trinergy Control, without compromising the seamless protection of the double conversion technology.
Vertiv’s AC power UPS portfolio encompasses power ranges from 500 VA to 3.4 MW in a single unit, and provides offline, line-interactive, and online double conversion technologies. Each of its product categories caters to numerous end-user verticals, including niche light industrial applications such as transportation, utility support, healthcare, and industrial processes.
“The company’s technology excellence is complemented by its brilliant product positioning and pricing strategy,” said Frost & Sullivan Senior Industry Analyst Gautham Gnanajothi. “Over the last year, it launched products with different price points and features, aimed at enhancing efficiency, scalability, power density, and usability. Some of its popular launches include the Liebert GXT4™ 700-10,000VA, range extension and enhancement of Liebert NXC from 10-60 kVA up to 200 kVA, Liebert EXL from 160-500 kVA to 100-1200 kVA and Liebert Trinergy Cube to 3.4 MW in a single unit.”
The Liebert GXT4 has a unique LCD display with simplified user access and incorporates controllable sockets, allowing customers to prioritize their loads. Following this, the 80-200 kVA range extension of Liebert NXC addresses specific customer needs relating to efficiency, charging capacity, and battery flexibility. The range extension of Liebert EXL has allowed Vertiv to maintain the compact size of these units, and emerge the first UPS in its category to reach 9.6 MW in a parallel system.
According to a Frost & Sullivan analysis, the new product launches have helped expand Vertiv’s sales across all segments. Among these, the data centre market is growing strongly, at almost 5 percent globally, while other applications, such as industrial, commercial, residential, and healthcare, are experiencing a nominal 2 to 3 percent growth.
“Vertiv’s revenue growth rate of 8 percent in Q3 2016 meant that it outpaced the industry average,” noted Gnanajothi. “This has encouraged the company to pursue aggressive growth strategies, such as strengthening its business in the data centre, telecom, and infrastructure markets, as well as positioning itself ideally in emerging markets to make the most of their higher potential.”
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed a product with innovative features and functionality, gaining rapid acceptance in the market. The award recognises the quality of the solution and the customer value enhancements it enables.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development.
